Meet BASIL

Meet BASIL. Does your companion animal need a companion? BASIL is your girl! She is a 30 lb, mixed-breed female who is a little over two-years-old. Watching her play with other 4-legged family members will be a joy. 

She came to us in early 2021 as part of a feral litter, and, of the five, BASIL has taken longer to acclimate to people. BASIL's top choice activity in all settings is to play with and be near other playful dogs. She handles life in a home well, she is fully house- and crate-trained, she can walk on a leash, and she rides well in a vehicle, even on long trips. BASIL is still working through her trust issues with humans (as she had no connection to people for the first 3 months of her life); she rarely approaches a person to initiate interaction, and she still often keeps distance when a human moves towards her. 

She is in a loving foster home, and they have seen TREMENDOUS progress over her time in the program and know she will continue to build trust with a patient family. Her needs are non-negotiable: she must go to a home with at least one active and playful dog, and she must go to a home with very patient humans who will be happy to celebrate her baby steps to becoming a full family companion. 

If you’re interested in adopting, our process begins with the submission of our online application, or email us if you submitted an application within the last six months.  We review and schedule meet and greets (with approved applicants only) based on the order received.
