Meet GEMMA - Paws Behind Bars prison dog training progam
GEMMA is a young, adult female German Shepherd. She was found outside the shelter gates one day with a puncture wound so was quickly taken in and examined by a vet. The wound has since healed, and Gemma is now with us. She is smart, and, before her prison training even began, she could sit, stay, down, and come. With a start like that, her inmate decided to take her to more advanced levels, which she's handling with ease. She loves people; she loves to work and to please. To date, she's been fine with the other dogs in the program. She can get a little possessive of her food, so we do not recommend a home with small children.
She is a very nice German Shepherd, but she's a lot of dog. As with any dog with a strong work ethic, she'll excel in a home where someone is willing to partner with her and be her constant companion.
