Meet HARLEY

HARLEY is a real favorite of the rescue. We took him in last year and quickly took note of the large tumor on his shoulder. At the time, we thought he was a hospice case and got him into foster as such. Sometimes time is your friend, and while the tumor grew and had been diagnosed as bone cancer, Harley's overall condition did not change. The cancer did not show up anywhere else. So, late last year, we decided to amputate the leg & shoulder. Harley is now fully recovered and, to our delight, a very happy dog!

We're moving him out of the hospice category right in the adoptable one! He is totally house and crate-trained, and he's excellent with people, including kids over six-years-old. He does well with many dogs after proper introduction; dominant dogs do not seem to like him, and, while the feeling might be mutual, he doesn't instigate/initially act on the dislike. He is very loving towards people, loves to nuzzle in to make sure he gets the attention, but he is not a Velcro dog.

He LOVES car rides, and he loves having a toy that squeaks; he does not chew out the squeaker, he just squeaks it in his mouth over and over. He also loves his orthopedic bed; he loves, loves, loves to sleep in the sun.

He is doing well with leash walking, although we're not sure he's up for strenuous walks or hikes. A home with a bedroom on the first floor would be ideal as he loves to be around people. The only time he fusses in his crate is if he's crated at night, and that never lasts long. He's just a wonderful dog who has a new chance at life.
