Meet KAYLA - Paws Behind Bars Trained

KAYLA is a 1 to 2-year-old female Shepherd mix. She came from a rural shelter where her time was running out. She's a good dog, outgoing and curious, but she's "high energy." Paws Behind Bars was the perfect place to put her! We saw improvement overnight. She started to relax, she started to put on weight, and, with an inmate all her own to work & train her, she couldn't have asked for more! She mastered her obedience skills very quickly; it's taking a little longer with her social skills. Wherever she grew up, she probably wasn't introduced to much. The prison environment, on the other hand, offers a buffet of sights, smells, and sounds. She's so smart, it doesn't take her long to determine whatever it is won't hurt her, and she moves on.

KAYLA is a wonderful dog, and for those who appreciate the Shepherds, she's a great dog! With guidance and direction, we're giving her a proper foundation. She's never shown us any aggression and loves to play with the other dogs. She'll need an active owner; older children would be okay. She'll need a fenced-in yard, and a fairly full agenda on a daily basis. She's food-motivated, but she LOVES to work.
