Meet CANDEE

CANDEE is a 5-year-old female Labrador Retriever. She came to us via the "rescue network," a bunch of caring people who know people. CANDEE is not a normal, happy-go-lucky Lab; she's had a past that we hope she never has to worry about again. She was owned by a breeder and, no doubt, delivered many, many pups. She was the sole survivor of a fire that took the lives of 25 puppies and 26 adults in a matter of hours. (CANDEE escaped from her kennel run.)

After a life of breeding, she was "retired" and adopted out to an active young family with children. Of course, that was a disaster, so, now she's with us. She's in foster care, in a quiet, adult home. She's still shut down, yet showing tiny sparks of engagement every day. Living in a house is a completely new experience. Bottom line, this wonderful girl has a big heart and a broken spirit. We ask for that perfect home with patience, compassion, and time to help her get back to a happy place.

If you’re interested in adopting, our process begins with the submission of our online application, or email us if you submitted an application within the last six months.  We review and schedule meet and greets (with approved applicants only) based on the order received.
