Meet McKENNA

McKENNA is a 3-year-old female Chocolate Lab. She came to us right before the big freeze storm. She was wandering the woods with another dog. A kind man took them in, and we went to get them as soon as the roads cleared.

McKenna's life probably revolved around birthing puppies. It's clear she's had multiple litters. That said, her overall condition wasn't too bad. She is in a great foster home where's she's warm, fed, and starting to relax. She's very loving and gentle, but it takes her a minute to trust. We've seen NO aggression. If she's scared, she'll simply "pancake" down. She has taken to a crate beautifully and will signal to go outside to potty. Her leash skills? She's STRONG. She's stocky and built low to the ground. There are times you have to pick her up to get her somewhere because she freezes.

In time, we're sure she'll blossom! Near future, she needs kindness, patience, and someone comfortable with timid dogs. She'll need continual exposure to the outside world so she overcomes her timidness. Trips to Petco, Lowes, on-leash dog parks are all great exercises.
