Meet BUTTONS

BUTTONS came into our program when we received a desperate call for help. Buttons is a wonderful 4-year-old mixed breed female, and she is DEAF. The family had a small child who startled Buttons while sleeping, and she reacted. Children like to hug dogs, and, while its never a good idea to approach a sleeping dog like that, it certainly is not when the dog is DEAF. Buttons doesn't see to mind being deaf. She is loving, walks nicely on a leash, and she approaches people and other dogs happily. There are a couple of adjustments you have to make to make them comfortable in your home; focusing on eye contact, working with smells and vibrations to alert them, and always being mindful to wake them properly are key. They have to have a secure home and yard as they can't hear oncoming cars. Buttons deserves nothing less than a home that will work a little harder to accommodate her needs.
