Meet DARLA - Paws Behind Bars Trained
DARLA is a young, adult female Shepherd mix. She came to us from a rural shelter and was an easy one to pick out of the crowd. She sat quietly and just looked at you with sad eyes. She made an excellent candidate for our prison dog training program. She bonded quickly with her inmate and picked up on her commands easily. She's the kind of dog who wants to be with her "person." She did her best to handle the noises and crowds of the prison, but a busy lifestyle might not be her preference.
She's been with us a little longer than usual as she was also heartworm positive. Because we address whatever we find, she has been treated and finished with her recovery period. She is READY to go home! A month on crate rest is enough, and she's ready to be someone's best friend.
If you’re interested in adopting, our process begins with the submission of our online application, or email us if you submitted an application within the last six months. We review and schedule meet and greets (with approved applicants only) based on the order received.
Please see our FAQ page for the answers to any other questions you might have regarding the adoption process.
