Meet WINTER

WINTER is a 2-year-old female German Shepherd Dog (We think there may be a tiny mix of another breed in there.) who weighs 62 lbs. She came to our program in a hurry when a partner shelter found her on the side of the highway. Best guess is that she got her paw stuck in a coyote trap; the skin was off from ankle down and bones were broken and exposed.

Lucky for Winter, our vet was able to salvage her leg and only had to remove a toe. Winter is completely healed and ready for a new home. She is proving to be an exceptional dog. She is leash, crate and house-trained. What else do we know? She LOVES kids, her ball, and water! She's up for a belly rub at anytime, or, if you have a ball to throw, it's game on!

She has played very nicely with a young male dog and is not at all reactive to new dogs. She handles herself out in public with ease! She knows "sit." Wherever she came from, she was much-loved and cared for. She's in a great foster home but really deserves a loving home of her own. She doesn't know she's a German Shepherd (low on the work ethic scale), and she can't help that big, beautiful, fluffy coat (A brush and a groom can easily address that.). On a temperament scale, she's a 10!
